Rate and Write a Review In what used to be part of a movie theater, the folks behind Cafe Milano opened a casual cousin to the hip Georgetown haunt in Dupont Circle. Sette Osteria has the look and feel of a casual Italian kitchen with terra cotta floors and bare wood tables with simple farmhouse-style wooden chairs. A welcoming bar extends along one wall, and large windows open up to the sidewalk in warm weather, providing prime people-watching seats. An open kitchen exposes a wood-burning oven that produces Neapolitan pizzas with toppings such as buffalo mozzarella, gaeta olives, salami and porcini mushrooms. For an authentic Italian feast, start with platter of cured Italian specialty meats served with house baked breads and olive oil to share with the table. Or choose from one of the antipasti, including calamari with spicy marinara sauce, mussels, and Italian sausage with broccoli rabe. A selection of hearty pastas includes Neapolitan baked meatball lasagna, cheese tortellini with green peas, mushrooms and cream sauce, and rigatoni with meat sauce. For a sweet finish, try the limoncello tiramisu or the mini Italian doughnuts with hazelnut filling.
