Sequoia is a door into the land of beauty: beautiful decor, beautiful people and beautiful views. The spacious interior offers high ceilings, warm lighting and cherry wood tables. Tall windows offer a spectacular view of the Potomac River, lined by trees ablaze in colored lights. Outside, bronze tables and chairs are staggered on three dining levels that lead to the waterfront bar. On summer evenings, the patio is crowded with frisky singles sipping cocktails and couples lingering over lengthy meals. Popular with young professionals, senior Georgetown residents and out-of-towners alike, Sequoia serves everything from fancy burgers to seafood linguini to pan-seared sea bass. Highlights include duck and pine nut dumplings, crab cakes and tender rack of lamb. Still, it's neither the menu nor the service that draw throngs of well-dressed, well-paid patrons. It's the view.

let me tell you about my "no show"
By DebbieDoesDCtoo on 07/24/2008
Ok I was not going to complain about June 23 at Sequoia but since they have us listed as no-shows on open table.com I am going to. They certainly treated our party of 3 as no shows - we were seated at a table for 5 even though there were other tables near us that were more acceptable. We asked to move and were told no. The service, was remarkably slow which I blame on the kitchen rather than the waiter because you could tell he was getting stressed. Our food came out at varying times and while it wasn't terrible, it wasn't noteworthy either. For the price and the hype of Sequoia it should have been better. I definitely won't show the next time!!!

Customer Service Nonexistent-Stinks
By Phil22304 on 06/09/2008
We were a party of 8 and had reservations for 3 weeks. Upon arriving, placed at a terrible location. Requested another table, one of 5 empty tables for 8. Management refused saying that those were taken. They gave us 2 tables for 4 and would not move the tables together saying it did not look good. The food was lousy as well. Upon leaving, all 5 tables were still empty. Nasty Nasty Nasty management.

Horrible service
By tbailey152 on 08/31/2007
If you must go, make sure you have some appetizers first because the service is horrible. I've been to Sequoia several times hoping they will improve, but I've always been disappointed. The food is good, the atmosphere terrific, but I won't be going back any time soon. Sequoia has a near monopoly on waterfont dining in Washington DC, therefore they have no incentive to provide good service. On top of that they have an arrogence about it.
