From the Editors
Seven is indeed a lucky number for Peter Smith's new dining destination. PS 7's clean-lined, minimalist decor creates a dramatic space but serves as a neutral backdrop so that the focus is on Smith's culinary creativity. Formerly of Vidalia, Chef Smith introduces his fresh take on Modern American and Continental cuisine to Penn Quarter with a tapas-style menu divided by price into seven sections. Diners can mix and match plates or go for a variety of items in a trio of flavors, like the popcorn-crusted halibut garnished three ways and sea scallops with crisp garlic chives, citrus compote or anise puree. Curated by Pastry Chef Naomi Gallego, most recently of Equinox, the dessert menu is divided into "Little Sins" like doughnut holes with dipping sauces and "Bigger Sins" like a tres leches cake with peach sangria sorbet. Hell has never been more tempting. -- Kate Marshall (Photo: Photography by Carrie Nosal)
