Rate and Write a Review Satisfy your craving for Southern hospitality and New Orleans-style cooking at The Red and The Black, one of the latest additions to Northeast's 'Atlas' shopping district. This small, comfy bar is filled with all things eclectic: there are tin-covered ceilings and floor-length red velvet drapes and the walls behind the bar are covered in framed photographs, mirrors and other assorted vintage-looking treasures. There are a mere six dinner items on the menu, but a bite of the gumbo or jambalaya will make you think you're hanging out in the French Quarter. Like sister club DC9 (the two bars are owned by the same duo), The Red and The Black's entertainment calendar features a different band almost every night. The focus of the music at The Red and The Black is mostly on alt-country groups and the cover charge is never more than $10. With Creole cooking, good beer, and nightly bands, it seems the only thing missing at The Red and The Black is the bayou.
