From the Editors

You're not in a restaurant; you're in somebody's dining room. At least it sure feels like it. Will wait staff come to your table... or your aunt Gladys? When did she get all this really nice tableware? Oh, wait, you're in Forepaugh's! Talk about cozy -- here is the ideal setting for any important moment or conversation. An elegant, 1870 Victorian house that bears the name of its builder offers equally elegant dining and ambience. The cuisine is fine French, served in one of many rooms where St. Paul's business elite likely supped and discussed their profits and losses. Veal, lamb, duckling and other tender meats are prepared and served with panache. Sautees and sauces also lightly accent the seafoods and vegetables. The light of candles and fireplaces lends a mellow aura, and no one suddenly whoops because the home team scored. Enjoy your coffee, just try to ignore the dessert cart, and talk to your dining partner about whatever moves you. You may turn to the topic of Sunday brunch, which at Forepaugh's is a notch above the usual. And if you're on a date that goes extraordinarily well, you might just end up talking about holding your wedding banquet here. -- John Sharpe

Not for Prom 08/03/2004

The food was very spendy for the quality and size of servings and the rooms are not very spacious for big groups.
