Down the street from the smoldering remains of the other major gay clubs and their equally aged clients, the Saloon stakes a claim on the cutest homosexuals in town. With four bars in tight proximity, a variety of moods are allowed to mingle. The Saloon boasts one of the most active dance floors in the Twin Cities. If you're not so keen on being treated like produce, try the video bar. Keep in mind that Tuesday is karaoke night: The unbridled crooning can be even worse than unwelcome groping. In back, "The Tank" caters to the leather crowd. For those with truly odd sexual tastes, the patio affords an opportunity to actually speak to Mr. Right Now before making out. Thursday night is the highlight of the gay social week as the Saloon allows in the 18 and older crowd to see what a real gay bar looks like -- and just about everyone else shows up to see the young ones.
