Hands down, Rustys is the venue for jazz, where it can flourish and grow in the Toledo area. Over the years, many jazz greats have performed at Rustys, and it has been a source of ongoing support and encouragement for emerging local musicians and young people studying jazz. Take the Big Band Bash, for example: Its a 16-piece big band comprised of local musicians who come every Tuesday night and play big-band charts. This popular event, which includes a special buffet for patrons, helps some of the older, retired musicians keep up their chart-reading skills, and helps the younger guys sharpen their sight-reading ability. Tuesdays are not the only jazz-centric nights in the cafe, which Rusty herself insists is "one of the three real jazz clubs left in the US." It's probably true; both Rusty and the club have been recognized many times over by the city of Toledo and the state of Ohio for their contributions to music and the arts. In fact, in 1997 the mayor of Toledo renamed the club's Tedrow Road location "Jazz Avenue." Rustys also lures jazz lovers from all over the world and has received national and international recognition from major entertainers.

Rusty's was a great place when it was around. Now it is a bar called Johns Korner Bar. We play darts there. It's not a bad small bar, not busy not dead just right. Jukebox is nice.

WHAT FIRE, I DIDN'T SEE ANY SMOKE. The statement of a fire is not true. I have lived in the neighborhood for 50 years about 3 blocks away from it. It was sold and now houses a bar and grille called John's Place. Being a musician it was a great place to go and alot of local talent blossemed from Rusty's Thank you Rusty Monroe.
