If Witness wasnt enough to quench your fascination with the Amish, you'll definitely want to visit the Gasthof Amish Village, located miles north of Highway 50. First you'll have to partake of traditional Amish fare at the cozy Gasthof restaurant, where fried chicken, smoked ham, roast beef, Amish stuffing, real mashed potatoes, noodles and other health-conscious country food awaits. Then you'll want to sift through the goodies at the Heubodon craft and gift shop upstairs and the Village Market down the street. Bring back rag rugs, candles, homemade candy, handmade dolls, quilts and other treasures for your friends back home and watch them turn green with envy. If you want a closer look at Amish life, take one of Gasthofs personally guided tours; you'll visit a harness shop, quilt and craft shop, general store and candy factory.
