Roma Pizza   

New York may be home to the traditional cheese pie, and Chicago might have made its mark with the deep dish, but Roma Pizza, located smack in the center of Ybor City's buzzing bar district, grabs the title for pizza parlor authenticity, hands-down. As you walk in, the left side of the restaurant features two twenty-four inch pies, one plain and one pepperoni. A smattering of calzones line trays in front of the ovens, which are steamily close to the cash register. Soda is available in the fountain variety only, and you tap it yourself over old-fashioned chipped ice. Sit at one of the red vinyl booths, where - who else? - a teenage girl with glittery eye shadow will bring your order to you. Be ready to wait for a seat Thursday through Saturday nights, though. Partiers up and down Seventh Avenue flock to Roma all night to fuel up on carbs and protein before hitting another club. -- Rachel Moran
