Awful Als is the place to go for a stogie, a drink and some great jazz music. The cigar and martini bars vintage sofas, chairs and tables help recreate the atmosphere of a bygone era. Sunday nights, enjoy the sounds of live jazz music played by local bands while sipping on a raspberry martini (or any of their wide selection of drinks). Friday and Saturday nights offer a change of pace with music selections ranging from new age and funk to acid jazz. For the game lover, Als has a pool table, dartboard, pinball machine and an old Pac Man arcade game. Every summer the bar sponsors its own golf tournament at a local course. The event serves not only as a party for regulars, but also as a way to attract new patrons. Golfers meet at the bar the morning of the tournament to have a drink before being bussed to the course, where theyre greeted by a different shot of alcohol at each hole. Fore! -- Sara Tripp
