One of the great treasures of Palm Beach County dining, Sundy House is set in a restored Victorian mansion once owned by Delray Beach's first mayor and his large family. The house itself is surrounded by a huge botanical garden, complete with bubbling waterfalls, charming cul-de-sacs, bridges, gazebos and brick garden paths. Before or after your meal, wander in the garden, where exotic tropical plants are labeled for your botanical edification. The restaurant, with both indoor and outdoor seating and a full bar, serves a Caribbean-Floribbean menu that incorporates some of the rare fruits grown in the garden. Fish, meats and pasta dishes are all inventive. Sunday brunch at Sundy has become an institution -- if you can get a table (make sure to call for a reservation). There's probably no prettier place to spend a leisurely morning over eggs Benedict and a Bloody Mary, reading the paper.

Pleasant setting--history past--no longer in top 10

there are at least 10 better places in So. Fla. to have Brunch, so go to the others first-- nothing bad here-- nothing particularly outstanding or exceptional either.

Wonderful

We were there Sunday 5/6/07 for Brunch. The atmosphere is relaxed, and absolutely beautiful, and the gardens are not "messy" or overgrown, but have a natural feel, that you don't get with overly maintained landscaping! Ginger and Bamboo are supposed to grow huge, and drop leaves! The service was impeccable, our waiter, Steve was knowledgeable, courteous & professional while at the same time, down to earth. We asked him many questions, about the fish, plants, accomodations, etc. He was very helpful. He even took the time to take pics of us, near the Macaw's cage. The food was delicious, presented beautifully. I couldn't find anything bad to say, if I tried.

Are you kidding me!

I used to love this place! But no more....it has really gone downhill. It just looks messy. The gardens used to be so well maintained, now they just look overgrown and dirty. I know management changed (again) about a year ago, but something bad happened with that change. I really had begun to think that they had gotten their sh** together and that the place was going to live up to it's 5 star rating. I think that whatever they did they should undo, because now it is just sad.
