From the Editors
One of a few solid seafood-oriented options in
Everglades City, the Oyster House does all the
usual grilled, fried and broiled tricks, and, as
is typical among local dining establishments,
also offers local delicacies like gator and
lobster tail. Nautical paraphernalia abounds. The
oysters are from Galveston Bay, but the grouper,
pompano and stone crabs (in season) are local.
The whole grilled pompano is a local favorite,
and they’ll fry or broil your order if you
prefer. The place is huge, with bar service, a
chickee hut next door, and a “glass room” with a
great view of the mangrove forest (it’s usually
open just during the day).
