Chill... 12/10/2007

This restaurant first left a bad taste in my mouth with a drink order. I requested whiskey on the rocks...Can you believe they charged me an additional 50 cents for the ICE?!!! Next time I'll pay for ice and fill the glass out of the flask in my purse. Hacienda has some nice dishes, but they are definitely Hoosier-flavored. For authenticity of Mexican food, I'd put Hacienda on a par with Taco Bell. If I could find a Pepe's Mexican Restaurant nearer than Valparaiso, I'd go there instead. But for the South Bend market, I'd echo the earlier commentator who recommends Rosales Mercado at Indiana and Michigan.

Good but not great... 08/20/2007

Midwest version of Mexican food best describes this restaurant...If you enter Hacienda with that expectation you will not be disappointed. Every dish is child friendly (bland...no kick). If you like sugary frozen drinks with little alcohol you'll enjoy their margaritas. If you like tomato paste without onion and cilantro you'll love their salsa. If you are not picky about great authentic Mexican food this is your place...bon appetite!

NOT MEXICAN 03/21/2007

This is a Midwest version of Mexican food. The salsa has zero flavor, as if they opened a can of tomato sauce, no cilantro, or onion, no flavor! A taco comes covered with melted cheese over the top of it, not unmelted and inside. Head west for Mexican food, those states serve a way more authentic tasting food. The Michiana area has some other restaurants that do better food. Don't ask the locals, ask people that have relocated to the area from Texas, Arizona or California and they will point you in the right direction on where to find "true" Mexican food. Better to have drinks there than a meal. Would only go back if forced at gunpoint.

Inconsistent 03/03/2007

We have eaten at their restaurants for over 10 years. Saturday night night life smell is carried over into Sunday dining on Lincolnway. Scottsdale restaurant is only as good as the waitress or waiter. One mixed up our drink glasses when she filled them--bad vibes for the rest of the meal. Food is also inconsistent. Sometimes excellent, to very poor. We do like Mexican food though. They need to work on Consistency. Their desserts have been excellent.

Just okay 02/27/2007

I have been going to this restaurant since they opened I loved the chimichanga however for the last 2 years or so they are not the same as they us to be. I order one last week and it seems to me they don't get it done enough on the out side not sure we wanted more chips and did see our waitress for about 20 minutes and then we asked for our check and it took her another 10 minutes they were not that busy at the time we were in there. I will not order the chimichanga again I will have to order something else

Good food but... 01/27/2007

Must admit that they do have good food. Have eaten there dozens of times, but am not happy with how they tend to nickle and dime you to death. Example: We took our 13-year-old granddaughter and family to Hacienda for her birthday dinner. There were 10 of us. Some had not eaten there so when asked if they wanted sour cream, guacamola or cheese with their entree, they answered yes, not realizing they would be charged for each of these items. Someone asked for ranch dressing instead of salsa with their chips and were charged extra also. When our server found out it was a birthday celebration, they asked if we wanted them to sing happy birthday with a sombrero. We said sure. We were charged for the sombrero. They are not a complimentary extra for bringing a large table of people to eat at their restaurant. I understand they need to make money, but they do not need to gouge their customers. We quit eating their 10 months ago after paying the bill for this birthday party celebration. Enough is enough.

great food at new location 01/25/2007

The new Hacienda located on South Bend's south side is spacious and serves large portions of consistently great authentic mexican/american food. For real Mexican food, go to Rosales Mercado on Michigan and Indiana. No atmosphere , but authentic Real Mexican.

As much as I love Hacienda, it's my favorite restaurant.. I must say that since Scottsdale mall is no longer, please change the address. There are several of them and one being nearby where the mall was in the Ireland road area, but the mall is gone. That being said, I've never had better mexican food.
