The easygoing, neighborhood bistro promises -- and delivers -- "fine food without fine dining." High-backed wood booths give cozy privacy in the dining area, but plenty opt for the 'Cheers'-like conviviality of the bar where regulars swap anecdotes, watch sports on usually silent TVs, and munch on happy hour queso crispas (a cross between nachos and thin-crust pizza). There are a dozen beers on tap, a clever selection of signature cocktails, and a 20-bottle wine list, nearly all of which are available by the glass in six-ounce pours. In the kitchen, pedigreed chefs craft an eclectic menu of upscale comfort food: Highlights include a grilled blue cheese and caramelized onion sandwich starter, Moroccan-inspired pork tenderloin served over couscous with spicy vegetables, and tagliata, grilled beef tenderloin with sauteed tomato and barley risotto in a rosemary-white wine reduction. Sandwiches and pizzas suit lighter appetites. Baked goods, pastas and desserts (like the tasty caramel apple puff) are housemade -- even the ice cream.
