Rate and Write a Review Among the disarming restaurants and dusty antique shops of Savannahs historic River Street is Wet Willies, a bar and restaurant nestled on the first floor of an old cotton mill. Despite its genteel location, Wet Willies is no place to engage in demure romantic banter. Here, patrons -- mostly out-of-towners -- fill up on drinks and the standard fare of oversized burgers, quesadillas and pizza. Others head outside to lazily sip frozen concoctions on benches while watching boats chug by on the river. You wont find the usual gaggle of college students, thanks to the strictly enforced 21-and-over rule. Those unaware of dear Willies dubious honors are blinded when they enter into its airy interior: vibrant abstract murals are splashed throughout the rooms, and one wall is lined with not one, but over a dozen washing-machine-sized vats filled with daiquiris -- the bars most well- known characteristic. Cheek-sucking and mouth- puckering, these rum-doused and sherbet-based drinks come in a slew of flavors: Bahama Mama, Sex on the Beach and Jungle Juice, to name just a few. The appropriately named Call a Cab offers real strawberries drowned in a healthy dollop of 190-proof golden grain alcohol. An added bonus: order a large daiquiri and become the proud owner of plastic cup adorned with designs made by a local artist, proof that you got wet at Willies. --Clare Oh
