Modern in both look and food, The House is a truly original restaurant. Larry Tse's Caesar salad has quickly sauted scallops instead of croutons. His taro spring rolls come with a lovely dip, and the garlicky barbecued chicken wings are addictive. The spicy rack of lamb, at a good price, is worth a visit to the cramped and noisy dining room. When they have the apple crumb Betty, go for it.

I was turned onto "The House" by some local "students" one day out in a Fillmore coffeehouse back in March, 2003. I just returned in Feb. 2004 to experience it again and this time to write about it! You HAVE to try the Salmon Roll appetizer AND the Black Bass entree! Incredible flavors and combinations of ingredients; attentive, knowledgeable staff; representative wine list and good prices should keep all "in the know" coming back! I'll be back! ~J.D.~
