Don't underestimate the power of good sushi, especially when it comes from a tiny shop owned and operated by the same person. Eating here the first time is a trip; not only are you crammed into a small space with total strangers, but the wall-size mirror behind the counter reflects the menu that's written backwards on the opposite wall. The owner, Nobo Eguchi, apprenticed in the city of Osaka and has yellowtail flown in daily from his hometown of Kagoshima, in Japan's Kyushu prefecture. Most of his sushi roll combinations are customer-inspired concoctions with names like Fritz's Folly, Big Wave Dave and Paul's Passion. Word has it his sushi is to die for; some customers come once or even twice a day for a piece of this mouthwatering delicacy. -- Stephanie Loleng
