Fringale actually got better after celeb chef Gerald Hirigoyen left the helm. Traditional French dishes (duck confit, frisee salad with egg and bacon, foie gras) still reign supreme, but they can get cluttered with too many ingredients. Simpler dishes (like any of the delicious tartines or very good beef carpaccio with arugula) feel more casual, but theyre some of the best stuff on the menu. The toned-down vibe makes Fringale a good lunch bet (try the tuna burger with top-notch pommes frites), though its equally popular at dinner with daters and business dealers. The blond wood and shades-of-beige decor feels stiff and hotelish -- as do the servers, though theyre well-schooled in the wine list.

Fabulous atmosphere. Beer cheese soup is phenomenal. I recommend it as a highly romantic and tasty little restaurant.

Recently they have undergone some "changes" as some of you may know. They were closed for several weeks and for the life of me, I cannot figure out why. The only changes I experienced were EXTREMELY slow service, discourtesy, and arrogance. My wife and I ordered an entre and dessert and it took us an hour and a half from beginning to end. After it was over the manager, Butch, offered to pay for our next visit, but not this one. Sorry Butch old pal, there won't be a next one. I give one star because the food is still pretty good, but they changed the recipie for the Beer Cheese Soup...it's not as good. It's sad to see a wonderful restaurant go down in flames.

BTW- They no longer take Transmedia card.
