Ever wonder what makes a Danish pastry different from a French pastry or Belgian pastry? If a taste test is in order, a savory spot to do the deed is Copenhagen Bakery and Cafe, located at the East End of downtown Burlingame's three-block shopping strip. Along with cinnamon, raisin, custard, cherry, apricot, poppy seed and raspberry danish, there are also tarts, crispies, candies, cakes and breads, all rolled out by hand and made from imported Danish butter and almond paste. The bakery occupies one side of the light and airy restaurant space, while on the other are two comfortable dining areas where lunch and dinner are served. It may take you and the other Danish pastry tasters a while to sample everything, so to keep you popping, Copenhagen serves eight different kinds of coffee.
