A homey eatery co-owned by two chef-partners and a friend who does floral design, Chenery Park is one of the first places people think of when they picture that "perfect little neighborhood spot" -- which keeps doing brisk business in the sleepy Glen Park district. Low-lit and bi-level, the space matches the mostly New American menu in casual style. The American plates are generally best (regulars swear by the rich baked mac and cheese and the Monday fried chicken night), but Asian-accented entrees (like salmon with the spicy green called tat soi) and straightforward stuff like the pate plate are also good. Desserts like cookies with ice cream or a gourmet root beer float appeal to both the adult palate and the childhood taste buds -- especially welcome on Tuesday Kids Club nights, when tots are given a special menu, booster seats must be reserved and a cheerful din is part of your dinner.
