Plenty of chefs create a fusion of eastern and western culinary styles. But most critics and diners in the know, including local food honcho Michael Bauer, assert that no one does it like Cafe Kati's Kirk Webber. Some of his dishes are Asian through and through, like miso-glazed black bass in a dashi broth with udon noodles, bok choy and tempura kabocha squash. Others are pure California, such as duck confit with fingerling potatoes, spinach and goat cheese salad with red currant sauce. Besides receiving local and national accolades for his culinary skill, Webber exhibits artistic skills as well. His plates are more like palettes splashed with color. The rooms are as much a visual delight as is the presentation of Webber's fanciful food. The front space feels Mediterranean with terracotta hues and a decorative motif resembling a Grecian urn. The back room is more dramatic with a huge dragon mural and red booths. Both spaces enhance the experience of Webber's bold culinary creations. -- Jamie Junghans

Absolutely mine and my wife's favorite restaurant in SF. We have been going to Cafe Kati for over 5 years now. Kirk has never lost his touch. Innovative and delicious creations!! Service is excellent. True neighborhood restaurant that really makes you feel at home. We have brought several guests from out of town. All of them leaving with great experience and coming back again and again. We highly recommend Cafe Kati. One of the best dining experiences you will ever have.

I recently went to Cafe Kati to celebrate my birthday and am so glad I did! All six of us enjoyed our meals immensely and the service was outstanding. The dishes were creative, the food was cooked perfectly and the portions were just right. Our server, Sean, was not only warm and friendly, but knowledgable and attentive, too. I highly recommend Cafe Kati!

Excellent food-very creative with beautiful presentation! Service was given with a smile from the most charming and knowledgeable waiter we've seen in a long time- he really knew the menu and its quirks plus he was exceptional with the wine. This little restaurant has one of the best wine lists at very fair prices...Simply outstanding!!
