Rate and Write a Review Plenty of chefs create a fusion of eastern and western culinary styles. But most critics and diners in the know, including local food honcho Michael Bauer, assert that no one does it like Cafe Kati's Kirk Webber. Some of his dishes are Asian through and through, like miso-glazed black bass in a dashi broth with udon noodles, bok choy and tempura kabocha squash. Others are pure California, such as duck confit with fingerling potatoes, spinach and goat cheese salad with red currant sauce. Besides receiving local and national accolades for his culinary skill, Webber exhibits artistic skills as well. His plates are more like palettes splashed with color. The rooms are as much a visual delight as is the presentation of Webber's fanciful food. The front space feels Mediterranean with terracotta hues and a decorative motif resembling a Grecian urn. The back room is more dramatic with a huge dragon mural and red booths. Both spaces enhance the experience of Webber's bold culinary creations. -- Jamie Junghans
