Rate and Write a Review Taking over Ponte Vecchio's digs in early 2005, Bistro Annex is owner Teo Kridech's scaled-down, reasonably priced and Californified answer to French-Italian cuisine. With a maximum capacity of about 18 diners and several entrees under the $10 mark, this Mission venue has fast become a popular destination among neighborhood residents and others seeking a good meal on a bargain budget. Influence from Kridech's Asian-French restaurant Watercress, located next door, is undeniable, but this tiny eatery with blood-orange walls distinguishes itself from its big sister by offering a smattering of simple Italian dishes and much cheaper prices. Starters include classics like the caprese salad, salad nicoise and French onion soup, while entrees range from flatiron steak to seafood paella. Among the most popular offerings here is the crme brule desert. The menu is small and not a great one for vegetarians. Only beer and wine are available, and one waitress mans the entire dining room. When the restaurant fills up, which isn't hard for a place this size, it can get rather loud.
