Acme Bread Company   

This award-winning bakery, established in 1983, supplies loaves to many of the Bay Area's finest restaurants. Acme's baguettes, sweet or sourdough, are sought after, but the bakery makes more than 20 other bread varieties. The exceptional Upstairs Bread is named for the Chez Panisse Cafe, whose long-standing relationship with Acme has contributed to the bakery's success. Although you can purchase Acme breads at many supermarkets and other retail locations, you get the best selection here-especially if you arrive early.
