Though series like 'Renegade' and 'Silk Stalkings' are long-since relegated to Saturday afternoon reruns, the Stu Segall studio that produced them is still going strong in a Kearney Mesa business park, and right in front sits a nostalgic diner that's seen many stars ordering burgers and salads into the wee hours. Studio Diner is open 'round the clock, so whether you are wrapping on a midnight shoot or just driving aimlessly at three in the morning, stop in for comfort food like fish and chips or Renegade Pot Roast, then finish it up with a chocolate egg cream. The spot is also a favorite for casual weekend breakfast. Pancakes are pressed to look like film reels, a big hit with kids. Start the day with a Mihammy Vice scramble or Ernie's Latino omelette, and you'll feel like you could tackle a 16-hour shooting schedule.

Good malts, but other stuff greasy
By Parrotkind on 07/25/2008
I love the malts, but I have tried a few other things, including the Monte Cristo, which was gross and very greasy. We used to go to eat there a bit, but have stopped, as the food is just not that good. I love the place, but have not been able to finish most of the meals I have ordered, and we have not returned in at least two years.

Studio Diner
By KaleyByrd on 07/10/2008
I have been eating here for 5 years, and working as a Hostess here for 6 months. I must say, if I had to pick, Studio Diner is the place to go for Fish-n-Chips, our Monte Cristo (deep fired turkey, ham, swiss, cheddar sandwich, sprinkled with powdered sugar and served with fries/other side and raspberry perserves) which is our most popular sandwich. But I LOVE the Mac-n-Chesse. I get it every time I am on break or leaving to go home. I highly recommend it. Take it from someone who had literally had EVERYTHING on the menu. Also visit Studio Diner on our website. www.studiodiner.com or even the myspace. www.myspace.com/studiodiner . I love eating and working here. Hope you do, too.

Best food I've had in San Diego
By Luckywngs7 on 07/08/2008
I moved her not to long ago from New York, and all I can say is your food is the greatest. It reminds me a lot of TRUE east coast food. I had you Lobster Roll and it was the freshest tasting lobster I've had outside of cooking a live lobster, and my wife had the Fish & Chips, I've never had such a big piece of fish before she had to bring some if it home with us. But to be completely honest your Buffalo Wing appetizer reminded me of real buffalo wings I got back home in Buffalo, NY where there we just call them chicken wings. You have 2 new customers for life now, all that is missing for me is a good pizza in this area.
