If there's one thing Lorna's loyal fans yearn for, it is that the restaurant would expand. As it is, the row of plastic chairs on the sidewalk in front of this strip center eatery frequently is occupied by hopeful diners, who usually find that the wait isn't too bad. And the wait usually is worth it, too, thanks to a menu replete with one-of-a-kind, home-style salads, pastas and chicken entres. Much emphasis is put on vegetables, and we're frankly nuts about the eggplant appetizer. We like the veggie-rich pastas, also, but when we can, we persuade the table to share one of the huge, fluffy-crusted pizzas, which the servers place on stands so that they seem to float above the table. The same dough also is folded around stuffings to produce some of the best calzone in San Diego.

I had a craving for Lorna's the other night and made the mistake of trying a different Italian Restaurant closer to my home. I was disappointed. Lorna's is perfect every time. The eggplant, no matter how ordered is divine. A bit cramped in the main dining room, but the food makes you forget that. They're great at accommodating groups of 20 or more. You will not be sorry if you visit Lorna's. A delight!

IT GAVE ME A FEEL OF MY HOME TOWN BACK EAST, OR MAMMA LEONE'S IN NEW YORK CITY. A GREAT WAY TO FILL YOUR HEART WITH SOME WARMTH AND MEMORIES FROM HOME. BY THE WAY THE FOOD WAS VERY AUTHENTIC, THATS WHY I GOT THE FEELING I WAS BACK HOME!
