Proprietor Karen Krasne's Little Italy patisserie -- the second location, after the original in Hillcrest -- is a dessert-lovers' dream come true. Krasne, who studied pastry making at the Cordon Bleu and returns to France regularly to train with masters at Le Notre and Bellouet, offers a menu that changes daily. Goods include homemade fruit tarts, creme brulee, cobbler, mousses, tortes, cookies and ice cream, along with gourmet coffees and teas. Desserts are as beautiful as they are delicious, and are served in a soothing haven in which you can escape the pressures of the day. The decor features mementos that Krasne has collected while traveling, ranging from Italian cake knives to soaps from Provence to granite bowls, all offered for sale either at the cafe or online. An exclusive line of jams, chutneys, syrups, granolas and honeys is available. Gorgeous wedding cakes and specialty items round out the offerings.
