Embers Grill   

I joined a group for a Pasta dinner before running the San Diego marathon. As runners we wanted to carbo load with bread & pasta. Most italian restaurants shove bread down your throats they way a Mexican joint fills you up on chips & salsa. Not this place. For a group of 7, we had to request bread 4 times and even then, they brought out only 4-6 piece on a plate at time. The biggest problem though, was that we went in promptly at 6pm with 6pm reservations. We were seated right away, and ordered within the first 5-10 minutes, but we did not get our food until 1 minute before 7pm. Lucky for them, I was about to launch into a carbo craving attack! The food (spaghetti with meat sauce) was actually pretty good, but only slightly better than the pasta & prego sauce I could have cooked up at home in 10 minutes....right next to all the bread I can eat! I would give them sympathy, but I saw others eat & leave before we were served....very disappointing, if it weren't for the good company, I would have been very upset..
