Bambaras decor is as interesting as its food. Located in the lobby of the historic Continental Bank Building, it features mahogany trim, grand arched windows and lots of brass, glass and class. Outside are the original cornices and sculpted faces of Norse gods. This is the heart of the business and financial district, near the Capitol Theatre, the Salt Palace Convention Center and Abravenel Hall. Theres an open kitchen -- a long, narrow space that runs the length of the restaurant -- so diners can watch the chefs put on their savory show.Try some of chef Scott Blackerby's specialities: roasted corn and crab bisque, peeky toe crab cakes with jicama slaw and citrus aioli, carpaccio of buffalo with white truffle oil, arugula and toasted shallot, and pan-seared foie gras with Granny Smith apples and applejack glaze. Asian influences show up in dishes such as tes cured duck in ginger-plum glaze with braised bok choy and jasmine rice. Roasted chicken comes with homemade sage noodles, while filet mignon is accompanied by bleu cheese gratin. Blackerbys hobby is organic gardening, and restaurant patrons reap the benefits. Entrees range from $10 at lunch for Southern fried chicken salad with grapes, apples and honey-mustard dressing to $25 at dinner for grilled Colorado lamb sirloin.
