With seven tables and two counters, the Red Hut fills up fast. Although small in size, the Tahoe diner is a legend among the locals for serving up the areas best breakfast. There are four-egg omelettes, waffles whose flavors vary with the fruit season, and a huge dawn special. Service is fast and friendly -- some of the staff have been here over 20 years and really know how to put out a spread in a hurry. Along with your breakast, youll also get tips on the best spots to ski or hike that day. And yes, the Red Hut takes its name from the barn-red building it has called home for the past 40 years. --Heidi Van Zant
