From the Editors
The HPD is your quintessential American diner. It
hearkens from the era of Happy Days and
Arthur Fonzerelli and poodle skirts and apple
pie. Speaking of apple pie, the HPD's apple pie
has been chosen by Conde Nast Traveler as
the best in the US. But pie isn't all you'll sink
your chops into here: After cruising into their
parking lot and beholding the glare of the neon-
lit eatery, you'll sit under a bright porcelain-
barreled ceiling and enjoy a chop sirloin
charbroiled burger, real mashed potatoes whipped
with cream, and (for you healthy diner-goers) a
fruit cup made from that rare concoction so
seldom found these days in diners -- real fruit!
There's been a diner on this little corner of
Rochester since 1900 and there's a reason for
that: Folks keep coming back!
