You'll find the Canal Club, Shockoe Bottom's biggest live music venue, located in an old tobacco warehouse nestled under a tangle of railway and highway overpasses. The bands that play here are many and diverse, but most fit into that familiar category of rock 'n' roll. National touring acts play on the upstairs stage in a large dark room that holds about 500 people. A railed balcony overlooks a dimly lit downstairs bar, where you can catch the act going on upstairs on large TV monitors.
