Birthdays, anniversaries and graduations just scream for the Angus Barn. Ever since the place opened (in what looks like a big red barn) back in 1960, the Angus Barn has far and away surpassed other Triangle restaurants as the most-requested destination for special occasions. The wine menu (a virtual catalog) contains 1,100 selections representative of their 30,000-bottle cellar, ranking it as one of the top 100 wine lists in the world. Because this is daunting to most, lean on the highly trained and attentive wait staff to guide you in the right direction. The dinner menu is much more manageable. You may want to begin with an order of oysters on the half shell North Carolina crab cakes. Then it's onto the entrees, all served with either your choice of salad, soup and side. The beef here is what most guests opt for, and choices range from a bacon-wrapped filet to a 24-ounce T-bone to chateaubriand. Seafood lovers will drool over the sweet Australian lobster tail or the fresh North Atlantic salmon. And it doesn't stop there. Freshly baked cheesecakes, cobblers and pies compete with the likes of Southern pecan pie, frozen key lime pie and Grand Marnier parfait for the perfect way to end the perfect meal.

GREAT
By CSusie1030 on 07/26/2008
My husband and I were in Chapel Hill in 1967-68 where he did a year of his Pathology residency at UNC Hospital and Medical School. We ate at the AB quite often, taking all of our out of state guests there when they would visit. We never had a bad meal, nor did our guests. I don't know about now but then it was GREAT! Chapel Hill had some very unique restaurants also and we both gained about 20 pounds during our year there. Keep up the good work!

Great Hospitality and Fabulous Food
By SChristino on 07/25/2008
From the minute you walk into the Angus Barn you know that you are in for a treat! The Country Store is stocked with all the signature items of this unique restaurant. The staff is friendly and very accomodating. The atmosphere is inviting with all it's nooks and crannies. The menu has something for everyone..the steaks are cooked to perfection and the sweet potatoes are out of this world! Save room for dessert, you won't want to miss the Chocolate Chess Pie. A great place for a special occasion or just hang out in the Wild Turkey Lounge for drink and a light bite! Whenever I am in the area it is a must!
