From the State Fair that comes once a year to the flea market held each weekend, the North Carolina State Fairgrounds provides a home to various events, some of which attract more than 10,000 people. With eight on-site roomy event locations, excellent parking, an award-winning landscape and easy access via the Triangle's major highways, it's no wonder that the fairgrounds is home to hundreds of events each year. Except for the month of October (when the State Fair is in town), a typical weekend on these grounds might include a dog show in the Graham Building, a train show in the Holshouser Building or a sports card show in the Kerr Scott Building. And don't forget about the flea market -- the oldest and largest in the state with antiques, jewelry, furniture, food and more. Also sharing the grounds are a horse complex, a half-mile horse racing track, a small lake, concessions, a 25,000-square-foot arena, which hosts the Ringling Brothers circus and smaller venues for conferences and family reunions. -- Erica Hinton

Dear Firefighter5:

There's nothing wrong with the State Fair Grounds. I've always had a good time -Of course crowds are to be expected "firefighter5" -It's a STATE event. I don't know what type of utopian events you've attended, but the majority of them are crowded-not just the North Carolina State Fair. Theirs no need to insult the locals either-people the world over can be rude. Perhaps we "rude locals" are just tired of arrogant out of towners infiltrating our State Fair then preaching their discontentment of a single incidence or event, and condemning the whole thing in one very rude, narrow minded, and uncalled for review -to the online community.

What a let down! Fireworks were a joke. They should be ashamed of themselves.
