Here in the Ocean State, you have your choice of seafood restaurants -- from clam shacks to upscale bistros. Hemenway's, however, consistently gets rated one of the top seafood restaurants in the city. Part of the restaurant's appeal derives from its downtown location and sweeping waterfront views. Hemenway's is a popular choice among tourists, especially for lunch, and among young professionals for dinner. While the crowd is young, the food is reminiscent of old New England fare. Lobster makes many appearances on the menu, as do a variety of broiled and baked seafood dishes. Look elsewhere for greasy fried clams. And of course, where there's surf, there's usually turf. If seafood isn't what you're in the mood for, you have a few steak options. The appetizer list is ample and includes an oyster and raw bar, as well as the ever-popular chowder. Prices are moderate, with entrees ranging from $15-$20. Make reservations on Friday and Saturday nights, or expect to wait. -- Kristin Amico
