For a one-stop clubbing extravaganza, no place better encapsulates the Pittsburgh nightlife scene than the converted Station Square warehouse known as Matrix. Combining four voluminous compartments, each with a distinct theme, bar and musical genre, Matrix is like a gymnasium-size sample tray of larger cities' main events. Dressed-to-impress party-hoppers show off slick moves on the dance floors of Club Goddess (California hip-hop), Club Velvet (Latin, salsa, tequila, ole!), Club Liquid (space-age atmosphere and oxygen bar, for the futuristically trendy), and Club Exit (dark and sparsely decorated for the true nihilist). Catering to postcollegiate twentysomethings, this is where Station Square scenesters like to end at 2AM.
