This Bloomfield neighborhood hole-in-the-wall is about as regular a place as you can get. I sat here on a warm, busy, late-summer Friday night at 10:30, and I think four people were there. One was a wooden Indian.This place, another in a long line of Pittsburgh neighborhood bars, doesnt seem to suffer much for a steadily slow business, though. After the quiet bartender gave me my beer, he shuffled around the bar and took his seat with the patrons. Everyone was quiet, as if theyd already talked about what they had to talk about long ago. It's certainly comfortable.Armands Bar is announced to the street with three black awnings and a bright- orange, neon sign that blazes its name in stark contrast to the molasses-slow feeling of the place. The front room is long and narrow, and a back room opens up into about 10 booths. The ceilings are low, and the place is dim and clean, a good place for a few drinks by yourself or maybe with one friend. Armands also serves a variety of bar food, and the fish sandwich is worth the trip. -- Jonathan Decker
