From the outside, it's hard to tell that you're looking at a restaurant. Your only clue: A small sign reading Vetri Ristorante, which hangs above the first floor window of a row house. Inside, the rustic, Italian countryside-inn decor, which is punctuated by copper pans hanging on earthy yellow walls, masks a sophisticated upscale Italian restaurant. The wine list is comprised of many $200-plus vintages, which indicates that a night out at Vetri can be extremely expensive. However, the menu can also be successfully navigated even if you're not a big spender. The intimate dining room is mostly populated by older diners, but Vetri can serve as a romantic destination for couples of any age. A sumptuously sweet onion crepe with a white truffle fondue is a tantalizing starter. The homemade chestnut fettuccine with a wild boar ragu rich in red wine makes a delicious next step. For entrees, an exquisite mesquite duck breast accompanied by a butternut squash flan will having you nodding your head at its excellence. -- Josh McIlvain

My husband took me to Vetri for my birthday. The gnocchi was melt in your mouth amazing. My pasta entry was rabbit and sage ravioli also superb and a lavender ice cream for dessert.... absolute heaven....

Restaurant Vetri

Cuisine is largely of the very highest quality. Some dishes are unbelieveably good...particularly the first courses...the spinach gnocchi are perhaps the finest I have ever tasted...and that includes a half dozen trips to Italy and eating very well. Once had foie gras on Kobe beef...an unbelievably superb marriage. It was incredible. I have a hard time understanding the low rating by some reviewers. They must not know what superb food is all about. I back my opinion on 30+ trips to Europe most of which included stays in France of up to a month...includng dining at half of the 3 star Michelin restaurants.
