Astral Plane   

This off-the-wall little bistro is a true gem of the Philly eating scene. It's a definite throwback to a less pretentious culinary time, with a groovy, laid-back vibe that is warm, welcoming and comfortably romantic. It's the kind of place that you refuse to give up once you've found it, one of those rare places with art around every corner. And it's just as comfy for a meal with your buds or your beau. Served in an atmosphere that is almost attic-y, with its mismatched china and oddball collection of hodge podge, the food is equally fresh and quirky; a sampling includes cashew-crusted brie with apricot-shallot compote, fennel sausage quesadilla, pistachio-crusted salmon with pistachio butter compound, and a 'Dragon Bowl' of tempeh and vegetables with organic brown rice and spicy peanut sauce. Astral Plane is also one of the coolest places to have Sunday brunch, thanks in no small part to its Bloody Mary bar. It's definitely a fun warm-weather pick, since outdoor seating allows you to bask in the sun.
