FABULOUS 08/23/2007

THE FOOD WAS EXCELLENT, THE ATMOSPHERE INTIMATE, THE CEVICHE OUT OF THIS WORLD. AND A CELEBRITY WAS SPOTTED--EAGLE TAKEO

Alma de Cuba Better Than Ever 08/22/2006

Headed back to Alma last night with a guest from DC, named Garcia no less. It was a great experience from start to finish. After a mojito and an Alma colada, we ordered 7 types of ceviche to share. The presentation was impressive - the tastes more so. After we each consumed half of seven good sized portions of ceviche, we were so full that we opted for soup. The chicken coconut soup and the seafood soup were both fantastic. The seafood soup was chock full of shrimp and clams. My dining companion also had a glass of wine with dinner. Then we had a cafe de leche an a cappucino to round out the night. The damages for this gourmet experience - @ $100.00. It's a bargain.

Que bueno! 06/29/2005

A group of us from out of town went to Alma de Cuba tonight for dinner on the recommmendation of the concierge at the hotel. All of us agreed it was incredible. It was a full house yet our service was extremely quick and the food was outstanding. The menu selection is quite broad and everything was very flavorful. I used to think my aunt cooked the best Latin food but she now has her work cut out for her.

slooooooow service 04/14/2005

I was there on a Tuesday night and the service was sooooo slooooow. Tip: set up your vcr if you have any tv show you think you will be home for...cause you won't. Food was good, not great. Expensive restaurants should excel at service and food quality. No return visit for me.

Chocolate and Liquor... 02/01/2005

The Chocolate Tasting and the "Enlightened One" were AMAZING! Great atmosphere. Thank god a guy seated us though, the girl hostess looked as if she wanted to do just about anything else other than take care of my friend and I. Tastey shrimp too!

Too expensive for quality of the food! 01/20/2005

Had dinner with 5 friends on a snowy evening. Service was poor (the restaurant was bare and that was unacceptable), we waited for drinks repeatedly and our entrees were served at different times. Menu was interesting but way overpriced for the quality and the ingenuity of the food... Was very pleased with my chilean sea bass entree but most gave average reviews on the other items ordered... Appetizers were so-so.. Great mojitos and cafe con leche... but our $450 bill for such a minimal, unimpressive meal was NOT worth it! Be prepared to shell out the cash if you decide to dine!

must get the ceviche 07/29/2004

the ceviche sampler is great. main dinner entrees are not as good. drinks esp. the mojitos are yummy.

fantastic food, atmosphere, and location. Starr has really outdone himself with this beauty, south beach miami meets new york chic.

Links riffs's Review 08/03/2003

The food was incredibly good. One of us had ceviche and octopus salad. The other went for the black bean soup and chicken combo. We shared a chocolate cigar and great sweetened coffees. What made it especially nice was the great service and the fact that two people with very different palates (one adventurous one more traditional) can thoroughly enjoy the food.
