Rate and Write a Review Franklin Field was rebuilt 72 years ago, and is chock-full of history. It is recognized by the NCAA as the oldest operational football stadium with the nation's first scoreboard as well as the first two-tiered stadium. It is also home to a few other firsts: the first football radio broadcast, and Vince Lombardi's only playoff loss in the NFL. Franklin Field is best known for hosting the Penn Relays, which have been run for over 100 years.
