Polly Esther's is probably not the type of place you'll want to take someone on a first date. It is, however, the type of place where you might meet someone to take home for the night. Although right in the heart of Philly's downtown district -- it's a stone's throw away from the Convention Center -- Polly Esther's a cavernous space reminiscent of the clubs lining Delaware Avenue. Music ranges from '70s and '80s nuggets, to more contemporary fare, depending on the night. Fridays are 'Ultra '80s,' with a happy hour from 6-8PM and no cover until 10PM. On Saturdays, all three levels of the club are open, with '70s and '80s music in the Culture Club and the main space; and hip-hop, Top 40 and R&B upstairs. Keep in mind, though: There's likely to be at least one bachelorette party taking place on any given night, so the vibe's always going to be a little crazy.
