The former home of after-hours legends Revival and Black Banana found a worthy successor in the Palmer Social Club, which opened on the same site (a former religious ephemera shop) in 1998. Palmer's vibe is more underground than some of the other after-hours spots in town like Emerald City and Transit; its bordello-like decor and many nooks and crannies, only add to the feeling that you've entered a secret lair. But the DJs the club brings in are no secret, with some of the hottest names in town spinning on three floors. Friday and Saturday nights, there are always rotating DJs spinning hip-hop; on Saturdays, the crowd tends to be a little more 'upscale' than on Fridays. Still, the clientele here overall tends to be older and better dressed than the partygoers on Delaware Ave. -- although Palmer habitues are still ready to party until 3:30 AM, when the club finally shuts its doors.
