Named for its perch on the 28th floor of the Bank of America building in downtown Orlando, Manuel's on the 28th dishes up contemporary cuisine with one of the best views in town. It's a special-occasion spot, where twinkling candlelight enhances birthday and anniversary celebrations, and romance is in the air. Art-glass lamps, Lenox china and fine crystal glassware can make any date seem like a special one. Start with the baby spinach and Stilton salad topped with black walnuts, shiitake croutons and a warm apple-wood bacon vinaigrette. Innovative preparations of seafood, lamb, veal, steak and duck are all present on the menu. Try the miso-marinated Chilean sea bass, served with seaweed salad and lotus root. The phyllo-wrapped lamb loin with mint pesto is also popular, as is the smoked confit of duck topped with boursin, tart apples and aged balsamic syrup. Dinner for two could easily top $200. But a more affordable option is the fixed-price menu, which includes an appetizer, soup or salad, main course and dessert for around $50 per person. If you arrive while it's still light out, ask for a table facing west. Floor-to-ceiling windows allow magical sunset views while you enjoy your meal.

Good food, service...eh.
By SageIceDragonX on 09/30/2008
Food was pretty good, although I just cant seem to wonder how they couldnt figure out how to cook my steak to an easy medium. It was still quite rare to the core when it came out and I had to sent it back twice to recook it. The service seemed a bit shoddy as well. Its not what I was made out to think it would be. We get better service at the Italian restaurant near seaworld for a little less than this very expensive place. The view was amazing though. My boyfriend took me here to impress and spoil me, but even he felt incredibly embaressed by the service and the way we were treated. I felt for the price we paid, the waiter could have made the effort to be a bit nicer with us.

Mixed Feelings
By roaddr6034 on 02/17/2008
My husband and I loved the view of the Orlando skyline as it went from dusk to dark and our seating, in the coziest corner booth. The service...not perfect. Our head waiter dropped menus at the table, did not open them and hand them to us, introduce specials, or any other special treatment you would expect at a restaurant of this supposed caliber. My husband's ostrich appetizer was delicious; my macadamia crusted diver scallop tasted as if the macadamia nuts were stale...not good. I had heard so much about the lobster bisque, but have to say I have had better bisque at Chalet Suzanne and Chatham's. The lamb chops were the highlight of the evening and I found them to be everything I expected. Neither of us had room for dessert, but I do feel the dessert choices on the menu were subpar; chocolate lava cake, an apple streudel type dessert, ice cream - these you can get at any decent chain restaurant. All in all, a mixed review, I loved that my husband brought me here, it was very romantic on his part, the restaurant failed to do theres for a bill totalling over $200.

Some Good, Some Bad
By charlesyelton on 09/08/2007
I dined at Manuel's last week for the first time in a few years and it was a bit of a disappointment. In the past every aspect of the night was positive. This time the dishes were hit and miss. Some were outstanding and some were just bland. The ostrich was excellent, but the appetizer special of crab cakes and large prawns held next to no flavor. I was also disappointed in their desserts. The selection was very limited and have no prices next to them on the menu. I am glad to pay $16 to $18 per dessert if they are remarkable. But, I felt we could have recieved these at any decent restaurant for half the price. The service was lacking as well. There times our waiter was missing for long periods of time. Aside from the unmatchable view, I can't see returning to Manuel's unless the service and food improve.

Food very good along with the views. Booths are very uncomfortable. Chairs are not much better. Will not go back.
