Cushioned between a Texas-size steakhouse and a motel near Knott's Berry Farm, this Middle Eastern oasis has fulfilled a culinary void in the OC. The interiors are almost as tantalizing as the menu itself. A pair of glass doors is the gateway to the restaurant's cavernous dining room, a space flanked with ornate columns, chandeliers and a faux sky to disguise the ceiling. Once the scenery has been digested, turn your attention to the extensive menu of appetizers, salads and main dishes. Aside from a selection of kebobs, there are a number of delicious appetizers and entrees to savor. For starters, the cheese-stuffed bourek is deep-fried and lightly salted and oozes with each bite, while the fatous salad is garnished with crispy pita and hints of sumac. A bean dish infused with lemon, olive oil, parsley and tomato is another favorite commonly known as foul. The substantial entrees feature ground beef, chicken, filet mignon or lamb. Save room for some rice pudding and traditional Middle Eastern coffee, a bold beverage best enjoyed in small doses.
