El Gallo Giro is an institution in Santa Ana and its surrounding cities: It's open 24 hours and specializes in inexpensive, home-style Mexican food from the grill to your mouth in seconds. Burritos, tacos and carne asada are whipped up on the spot -- made to order about as fast as you can get the words out of your mouth. The tamales are pretty special as well, but the jewel in Grio's crown is the torta. In essence, a torta is a Mexican sub sandwich: a French roll split in half and layered with guacamole, lettuce, tomatoes, onions, jalapenos, refried beans, jalisco cheese and the meat of your choice. It's definitely too much for one sitting, but leftovers tend to taste even better the following day.

I've been going there since the late 80's and the food is very authentic and very good. Try the fruit drinks made fresh on-site. Watermelon is my favorite. I buy my carne asada pre-marinated only from them

This is it! This is the closest thing to real Mexican food. From Pork Carnitas to savory Tamales, this is the best Mexican food you will find, in perhaps, all of Southern California! Don't forget to try their one-of-a-kind natural fruit drink waters.........UNBELIEVABLE!!!!! Best Mexican food around!

Mexico Lindo

The food here is great. I only wish they could use a bit of common sense in handling the crowds. It's a ridiculous free for all when it's crowded. If you don't speak Spanish, watch out!

Only complaint: I've had my share of gristle and funky stuff in the tacos. Always open them up and look before biting.

Otherwise, it's like being in Mexico.
