Sand Bar is a huge, sprawling restaurant, bar and nightclub, with two very large dance floors, four lounges, a separate dining area, and four outdoor bar pavilions with a magnificent view of the Statute of Liberty and the Manhattan skyline. The dance floors come equipped with extensive light shows, and all summer long, you can dance to rock and reggae bands or DJs spinning house or techno. Saturday night is for Latin grooves. Thursday through Saturday they won't let you in wearing sneakers, jeans, work boots, hats, or baggy pants. There's a cover charge for the weekend nights, and ladies' nights and drink specials of bewildering complexity, so best to call ahead. Sand Bar also closes up when the weather turns. There's ample parking for up to 1,000 cars and you can dock your boat at the Sand Bar, too. You wind up tightly packed in with a bunch of sweaty, hormone-addled cats on the prowl, so be careful; Sand Bar is known for the brawls that periodically go down there.

Definitely one of the better spots in the ny, nj area
By MAKEAMOVE456 on 09/12/2008
It's a place you can just cool out, big rooms large outside area, which is my favorite spot of the club. If you have a boat I think you can get in for free, they have a doc right there. Even on the nights that haven't been that great it still beats most places.

supernova baby

I think i really had a better time outside of the joint, cornball tough guys tryna start a fight with whoeva in the parking lot. Tey must be serving some banging drinks in that place, cause when those grease balls come out looking 2 fight someone, the ladies have a easy time holding the tough guy's back, I guess it's better holding them back instead of trying to pick 'em off the ground from getting rocked for picking a fight with the wrong dude. The ladies GOOD LAWD MAN they in the house looking tight and right and dynamite. LADIES KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK the way u pack those girls in u shirts, make this world a better place 2 live in, I had fun I'll go back again, as a matter of fact, I think I'll go after my wife get drunk and falls of 2 sleep, I'M A BAD MAN, c u there.............

Good for both worlds

I use to work for a local radio station and would often do promotions and broadcast live from here. It's an ok time but I dont remember there being a harsh harsh dress code. Im sure jeans are ok with dress shoes. I just recently spent a sunny afternoon there, after a bike ride. The place has an awesome property right on a marina. Its a bit dirty and could use a fresh coat of paint and a good dusting. Its obviously not managed well in that sense. I did however enjoy sitting on the dock and drinking a corona and eating some french fries and crab cakes. If this place could clean up the way it looks ---- it could be a really popular place. The potential is there.
