Jenk's Nightclub, on the Point Pleasant Boardwalk, draws very big, very eager-to-meet-ya crowds of buff and tanned bungalow-renters and locals during the summer months. But that's no surprise: The prime location plus a roster of well-loved local bands and rotating drink specials make Jenk's a summer sure shot. DJs generally share stage time with downashore cover band favorites (scene vets know the names: Big Orange Cone, The Nerds and Brian Kirk and the Jirks), and the mood is generally attitude-free, friendly and dance-intensive. What's remarkable, though, is that Jenk's keeps things going all year long, continuing to draw overflow crowds of hardcore Shorebirds and locals even after the vacationers have all gone back to work. The crowds queue up for cover bands and Coors, come rain, snow or shine. The outdoor drinking area is pretty clutch during the warmer months, but the club is spacious enough for big groups whatever the weather. -- D.J. Roth
