As Sally's is to Yale, V&T is to Columbia: an unpretentious local pizza joint made legendary by generations of nostalgic Ivy Leaguers. The pies at this Morningside Heights landmark -- thinly crusted and very cheesy -- closely resemble the offerings at every corner slice shop in Manhattan, but devotees claim they're the best of their kind. Also available are enormous portions of stuffed shells, baked ziti, veal parmigiana, baked clams and classic spaghetti with meatballs - high-energy food to fuel late-night study breaks. Atmosphere is funky, even borderline decrepit, but that's presumably part of the charm. Bottled beer and a few varieties of economy-class Chianti are served. -- Jacob Levich
