It may take a little extra kung-fu fighting to squeeze out a reservation at this gold-hued, massively sensational couplet of restaurants, but boy is it worth it. Part Silk Road mystique and part Charlie Chan kitsch, Ruby Foo 's is the kind of pan-Asian wonderland where eating a meal is like riding the Orient Express through a Hollywood back lot of black-belt movies set in Las Vegas. A huge neon sign, grand circling staircase, bold mah-jongg-tiled walls and a seemingly endless three-level capacity gives your reasonably priced lunch or dinner a warm, bubbly and exotic feel. Owner Stepen Hanson -- who also runs Blue Water Grill, Isabella's, Atlantic Grill and others -- has concocted a pleasing menu that tracks through Japanese, Chinese and Thai cuisine vibrantly highlighted by sesame-crusted tuna, tamarind-glazed tuna and seven-flavor beef with ginger mashed potatoes. There's also dim sum, sushi and a dessert menu lengthier than the Great Wall of China, as well as a palatial cocktail list fit for birthdays, anniversaries and even Genghis Khan.

Must Try Once - 07/07/05
By sean2c on 07/07/2005
This is definitely a restaurant everyone should try once. Call for reservations or else you'll be stuck with a wait. We had 5:30 reservations and were seated immediately even though we showed up about 20 minutes late (darn NY traffic). Entrees are enough for 1 person not 2 so make sure if you want to share entrees to order 2. We ordered 2 appetizers, 1 soup and an entree for 2 of us. Fantastic dining experience, great service, reasonable priced considering you're in the middle of Times Square.

THE TRUTH.......
By jhnthro on 12/07/2004
My boyfriend took me on a date to Ruby Foos on a Saturday. It took forever to be seated. I give the waiters' and seats a big fat zero 00000 . The seats were too close together; it was about 3inches apart from each other.(TERRIBLE) I felt like we were in a lunch room.they dont serve much food but its not that bad. I must admit the food was deliscious! It's very clean you can see the chefs' prepare everything from scratch. The food came in about 8 minutes. Last but not least, The decor and ambience was on point(beutiful)xoxo.
