Rate and Write a Review Making your way through the maze that is Chinatown, this eatery is easily spotted by the line outside. And while the notion of waiting seems absurd given the countless restaurants around, the fact that people do can only mean one thing -- this place must be worth it. But what accounts for all the hoopla that even has local culinary schools making the pilgrimage? The soup dumplings, the de rigeur appetizer at many Shanghai joints, here are considered by many to be the city's finest. While the menu also offers some classic Chinese American favorites like sesame noodles, moo shoo pork and spare ribs, the more authentic Shanghai choices are the main order of the day, including crab and pork steamed buns, yellowfish potage, crispy turnip pastries, carp tail with brown sauce and winter-melon soup with dried young bamboo shoots. Although New Green Bo has sterile white walls and dime store artwork like most of the places in Chinatown, it overflows with humming of chatter, waiters zipping around in white lab coats, and heaping plates of food whisked from table to table faster than the eye can see. -- Amanda Dorato
